FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW
IS IT SMART TO USE LOTS OF DIFFERENT PRODUCTS FROM MANY SKINCARE LINES?
While it is possible to mix and match, making sure the ingredients are made without any unnecessary chemicals and fillers. Most skincare lines create their products to work together. We have created products with ingredients that will compliment each other and combat many issues making it unnecessary to have to have an over excessive amount to use. We have created very simple and specific regimens for each skin issue and additional products can be added if there are a multitude of problems or issues to correct. The best way to determine this, if you are having difficulty in making a decision, is to contact us. We will be more than happy to create the perfect regimen for you.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT PRODUCTS TO USE AND NOT TO USE?
We have created a product index list to steer you to the proper products for your skin type as well as complete beginning regimens to get you adapted to a proper skin care routine. It is imperative that you do not use products that are not for your specific type. By using products that are not made for your skin type, you can cause more issues and harm to your skin. We have kept it simple so that you can grow into your routine at a comfortable pace that you decide.
WHY DO I NEED TO USE PRODUCTS THAT ARE PROFESSIONAL QUALITY?
When selecting any skincare products, you should look at
what the ingredient label. Many non-professional quality lines include fillers to produce massive quantities and not focusing on quality or considering the penetration ability. Our skin acts as a barrier to any foreign
invaders like fillers that our body is not familiar with and will reject its penetration. Example, if you ever used a product and the skin felt like it was burning or a rash or bumps occurred, then it probably had products in it that
your skin did not recognize. So, using well-made and carefully curated ingredients it will ensure that your skincare is penetrating and working to fix the issues you are trying to target.

MY FACE IS DRY AND WHEN I MOISTURIZE IT BURNS?
This is a common problem when the skin has been compromised
from dehydration. You must hydrate to get the pH back to a proper balance or it will continue to burn and turn red. A pure Hyaluronic acid withabsolutely no fillers should be used to heal the skin. And we suggest our VitaK Milk Lotion or Deep Palm Hydrating Cream if skin is severely dehydrated for immediate relief. Healing will happen very quickly then you can move into a custom regimen that fits your skin needs. Keeping your pH under control when predisposed to dehydration is key.
CAN I USE THE SAME PRODUCTS IN THE AM & PM?
Our body runs on what is called Circadian Rhythms. This means that our body protects itself
during the day and repairs itself at night. Changing your routine slightly from the AM & PM is necessary. Example, a sunscreen should not be used at night and using different cleansers
depending on your skin type and makeup use. Treatment products and hydrators may also need to be changed or added depending on specific issues. Contact us for a custom Free regimen made
just for you.
WHY DO I NEED TO USE A TREATMENT PRODUCT?
All professional skincare products are formulated to correct skin issues. However, a treatment
product is designed to penetrate easily and target a specific issue to correct them quickly whether it be pigment, lines, wrinkles and even acne. Cleansers and exfoliators prepare the skin
for treatment products and moisturizers/hydrators balance the skin depending on
the treatment that is used. It is
essential to perform the proper steps to keep the skin in a healthy state. So, remember to Cleanse, Treat, Hydrate, and
Protect. With these 4 steps you can’t go wrong.
WHAT CAUSES ACNE?
Acne is caused by dead skin cells that do not exfoliate off the skin properly. Instead, the dead cells fall into and plug the follicle mixing with sebum creating bacterial infection and inflammation. With oily and acne skin you must exfoliate these dead cells helping the cell desquamation (the shedding
of skin off the surface) to prevent them from clogging. It is imperative that the proper skin
products are used to cleanse, exfoliate, treat, and hydrate. Using products specifically designed ingredients will conquer this issue. To treat acne andclear it up you must also keep the skin from overprocessing by maintaining the proper pH so that acne and oily skin can stay under control and not want to produce oil to rehydrate the skin that feels dehydrated.
WHY DOES MY FACE FEEL TIGHT AFTER CLEANSING, THEN OILY 10-15 MINUTES AFTER?
If you are feeling clean and tight after cleansing, you are probably using a cleanser that is over drying or stripping too many dead skin cells. This can be a good thing if you are trying to resurface your skin, however, you must properly hydrate afterward to put the nutrients back into the skin and bring it back to its natural pH. If you do not repair and balance th eskin, your brain will know that the skin is dry, and it will send out your inner hydration to repair it. Balancing your skin after cleansing with the appropriate hydrators will keep your skin looking healthy and help your makeup apply and wear better throughout the day.
DOES FOOD CAUSE ACNE?
Food can play a role in causing acne. Remember, you are what you eat. Nutrients run through your blood stream and so do unhealthy nutrients too. Pay attention to foods containing: Sugar, Dairy, Fast Food with preservatives, Gluten, Chocolate, Greasy Food, Protein Powders, Refined grains, Omega-6 Fats, Meat and Animal Protein.
WHAT CAUSES ACNE?
The main causes of acne can be from psychological effects such as depression and anxiety, hormones, hair products, facial hair removal, diet, stress. Acne can be in the form of Papules (inflamed causing red or pink bumps), Pustules (Pimples containing Pus), Nodules or Sebaceous Cysts (A small bump that can be skin toned or red on
the surrounding area without a head that is usually painful to touch), Blackheads (An open follicle clogged with oil that can be extracted), Whiteheads
(A clogged pore with a whitish elevation that can break easily on its own).
WHEN SHOULD I START A SKINCARE ROUTINE?
Prevention is the best policy when it comes to beginning a
good skincare routine. As time
progresses your routine will have to be adjusted according to age. Approximately every 10 years (according the Glogau Classification Scale) you will most likely have to adjust your routine
and determine the most appropriate procedures for treatment. Most children start in their teens due to skin issues, however if you are one of the lucky ones that doesn’t have any
problems, the early 20’s is the best time to start with a preventative routine.
WHAT PRODUCTS DO I NEED TO START A SKINCARE ROUTINE?
The best practice is to start with a 4-step approach. Cleanse, Treat,
Hydrate and Protect. If you start with these 4 steps, you will be on the
right track to getting accustomed to taking care of your skin. When you
feel confident and comfortable, you can add on other products such as
exfoliators, additional treatments products that address other skin problems
that are present, as well as, adding on an additional cleanser to complete a
perfect AM & PM routine. It is best to start off slow getting
accustomed to a simple routine especially if you are not familiar with
skincare. We create easy to follow routines for your specific skin type
by request and we make sure that you know how much to use so you are not being
wasteful, and when and how to use the products for the perfect results. Remember, professional pharmaceutical quality
skin care does not require you to overuse.
So you can keep the money in your pocket where it belongs.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I EXFOLIATE?
While there is nothing set in stone, it is usually recommended to exfoliate 1 to 2 times per week if your skin can handle it and
depending on what type of ingredients are in the exfoliator. Exfoliation can be done in the AM or PM. We suggest if the ingredients make you sun
sensitive it is best to use during the day. Sensitive skin should be cognitive to not over exfoliate because you can compromise your stratum corneum making your skin irritated and more sensitive. For oily and thick skin types, exfoliating will be a good thing to help treatment and hydrating products penetrate, so
they can be used more often. A good rule of thumb is 1-2 times per week. Your skin will let you know what it needs, so listen carefully to it.
ARE THERE PRODUCTS THAT CAN CROSSOVER TO DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES?
Even though it seems confusing, there are products that can
carefully be crossed over to different skin types when there are multiple issues to be solved. For example, Acne skin can have problems with pigment or overprocessing creating dehydration as well as mature skin having problems with thickening and congestion needing exfoliation. There are many ways to cross over products and this is a reason you want to ask questions. Feel free to contact us to get a specific
regimen above and beyond the basics. As you get deeper into your skin routine, you can have fun and really learn how to
change your problematic issues.
IS IT NECESSARY TO USE 2 DIFFERENT CLEANSERS?
While it is not necessary in some cases, it is a good idea to use different cleansers in the morning and night. Most creamy cleansers are used for hydration
and makeup removal and most foaming and acne cleansers are used to clean pores or perform slight exfoliation. For this reason, it is ideal to use different cleansers if it fits into your budget. Foaming cleansers are ideal for the AM to remove overnight oils and assist in the penetration of daytime treatments products, as well as preparing the skin for better makeup application. At night a creamy cleanser is best to remove makeup and pore debris and can be followed up by a foaming cleanser especially if you have an oily or acne skin type. Contact us if you need specific regimens for more information on your skin type.
IS IT NORMAL TO USE MORE THAN 1 TREATMEN PRODUCT?
In most cases it is normal to have 2 or more treatment products. Treatment products penetrate
the skin quickly to reverse damage. Treatments are non-comedogenic (non-clogging) and can be a crossover product for many skin types. For example: it is possible to have aging skin with pigment, acne skin with pigment, acne skin with irritation, aging skin with irritation, etc. So, in most cases treatments as well as cleansers and hydrators may have to be alternated in the AM and PM to achieve maximum results. Contact us with any questions regarding your skin before you purchase, and
we will customize a regimen for you.
HOW DO I APPLY SKINCARE PRODUCTS PROPERLY?
A good rule of thumb to follow is, thinnest texture to thickest
texture. Treatment serums and emulsions are made to penetrate quickly after cleansing and exfoliation. They are made to get into the skin and target specific cells to repair specific damage. Then follow up with thicker texture products such as creams and souffle’s which are made to hydrate and balance the skin. If more hydration is needed, you can add any of our oil products to your hydrators.
HOW DO I APPLY PRODUCTS WITHOUT WASTE?
The best and most efficient say to apply products to your fingertips and apply a dab to your forehead, both cheeks, chin and then neck area. Once dabbing is done, gently rub the product all over the face spreading evenly, and preferably in an upward
motion. It is not necessary to wait for all the products to penetrate before going to the next step, but I like to thoroughly rub in all treatment products to prevent pilling of hydrators and
sunscreens. In most cases, 1 full pump of each product or a pearl size of creams should be enough to do the entire face, neck, and décolletage area.
